Castle Hill Reservoir Tank Replacement

GKL Group was engaged to provide Project Management services to Townsville City Council for the delivery of the Castle Hill Reservoir Tank Replacement project. This work formed part of the Council's ongoing commitment to maintaining over $5.4 billion in community assets across water and wastewater networks, roads, drainage and related infrastructure throughout the city.

Our role spanned the full project lifecycle, from initial condition assessment and scope development through to construction supervision and final delivery. The existing reservoir tank, which supplied water to the amenities block, drinking fountain and surrounding irrigation sites, had reached the end of its serviceable life and required full replacement, including remediation of the tank foundation to prepare a level footing for the new structure.

Construction works included the removal of the existing tank, foundation preparation and the precision lifting and repositioning of the new reservoir tank on site. The project required careful coordination with Council and the community to manage temporary closures of Castle Hill Road and associated walking tracks during the lifting operation, ensuring public safety throughout. Works were delivered within standard construction hours, with advance notice provided to the community ahead of access restrictions.

The Castle Hill Reservoir Tank Replacement was completed within the scheduled six-week programme. This outcome reflects the disciplined planning, stakeholder coordination and practical site management that GKL Group brings to every community infrastructure project.
