Our Townsville team recently had the opportunity to visit the CopperString Experience Centre, gaining valuable insights into one of the most significant infrastructure and energy projects currently underway in Queensland. CopperString 2032 is a transformative initiative that will, for the first time in Australian history, connect the North West Minerals Province (NWMP) to the National Electricity Market. This connection is set to unlock enormous potential - not just for the energy sector, but for Queensland’s economy as a whole.
Covering 375,000 square kilometres, the NWMP includes key regional centres such as Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Julia Creek and Richmond. It’s home to some of the world’s richest deposits of critical minerals, the essential building blocks for modern technologies like electric vehicles, renewable energy infrastructure, energy storage systems and low-emission power sources. At the Experience Centre, our team explored how these minerals are found, mined and used in everyday products. It’s a compelling reminder of just how closely the future of energy and infrastructure is tied to regional Queensland, and how projects like CopperString 2032 are vital in connecting these opportunities to the broader state and national networks. At GKL Group, we’re passionate about being part of Queensland’s infrastructure journey. Visits like these help our team stay informed and inspired, reinforcing the value of our work across the regions and our commitment to delivering for Queensland’s future. Comments are closed.
