Queensland Resources Facility

The Queensland Resources Common User Facility is a key project supporting Queensland's critical minerals industry, delivered by the Queensland Government in collaboration with the Department of Natural Resources and Mines, Manufacturing and Regional and Rural Development. The facility is intended to give emerging producers and researchers shared access to specialised processing infrastructure, lowering the barrier to commercialising critical minerals and strengthening the state's position in a sector of growing national importance.

GKL Group was engaged to assist the Client's Engineer, SMEC, in delivering early civil and concrete inspection and surveillance services for the works. Working as the initial early works inspector, our role involved quality assurance surveillance and daily reporting duties, ensuring the required standard of workmanship was established and maintained through the opening stages of construction. By embedding rigorous inspection from the outset, the work helped set a clear quality benchmark for the contractor to carry forward and gave the project team early visibility of any issues before they could affect later works.

• Service installation
• Concrete slab on ground and other structures
• Portal frame installation and footings
