Innovative solution for koalas

​We recently completed a project as representatives of our client, Townsville City Council.

GKL Group was nominated as the superintendent part way through the project, on behalf of Townsville City Council. The project has multiple stages and includes the road from Arcadia to Horseshoe Bay on beautiful Magnetic Island.

The project included installing guard rails which were designed as a safety feature for road users, however the guard rails proved problematic for the local koala population. Following community consultation, an innovation solution was designed to assist the koalas climb over the guard rails where netting has been installed allowing the koalas to climb over the guard rails when required.

In addition to community consultation, the role of GKL Group also included analysis of the contract, acting as the point of contact between the client and the contractor and the project superintendent role.
