Riverway Boardwalk

​One of the projects we are proud to have helped deliver for Townsville City Council during 2022 is the Riverway Boardwalk redevelopment project.

GKL Group were engaged as the Superintendent for the project and worked to manage the contract between the Principal Contractor and the Client. Our role involved managing the process from procuring a design and construct (D&C) contract, through award and design, during construction, and then handing over the delivered project to the Facility and Asset Management Team at Townsville City Council.
 
Works included:

• Ripping up old boards that had been damaged due to flood
• Replacing all boards
• Minor upgrades to hand-rails and electrical
• Replace damaged joists and bearers

​The project used an extruded fibre composite material that is a mixture of recycled plastic and wood, providing an environmentally-sound product made from recycled materials.
